Fans of Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi were eagerly waiting for the release of their upcoming film Bhool Chuk Maaf. But there’s been a big change—this comedy-drama won’t be hitting theatres anymore. Instead, it will now release directly on the OTT platform Prime Video.
A Change in Plans
Bhool Chuk Maaf was originally set to release in cinemas on May 9, 2025. However, the makers have decided to postpone the theatrical release and bring the movie straight to people’s homes. It will now premiere on May 16, 2025, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
This decision was made due to the rising tensions between India and Pakistan, which have led to increased security concerns across the country. The film’s production house, Maddock Films, along with Amazon MGM Studios, shared this news with fans on Instagram on May 8.
Safety First, Says the Team
In a joint statement, the makers said,
“In light of the recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16 — only on Prime Video, worldwide.”
They added,
“While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating the film with you in theatres, the spirit of the nation comes first. Jai Hind.”
A Unique Love Story with a Twist
Set in the lively and colorful city of Varanasi, Bhool Chuk Maaf tells the story of Rajan, a hopeless romantic played by Rajkummar Rao. Rajan lands a government job, not for career goals, but to win over the love of his life, Titli, played by Wamiqa Gabbi.
But just when everything seems perfect and the wedding celebrations begin, Rajan finds himself stuck in a strange situation. He wakes up every day on the morning of his Haldi ceremony, trapped in a time loop. No matter what he does, he keeps reliving the same day over and over again.
What follows is a mix of comedy, emotion, and a search for true love. The film explores the ideas of destiny, second chances, and how far someone will go for love.
