Boney Kapoor Opens Up About Sridevi’s Death, Says She Went Through A Severe Diet & Starving To Look Glam On-Screen

In a recent interview with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor revealed shocking truths about the legendary actress. He addressed his wife’s death for the first time to the media. Sridevi went to attend a family wedding in February 2018 and was found dead in her hotel room bathtub. Immediately rumors floated around but after investigation, it was found the cause of death was accidental drowning.

Boney Kapoor disclosed in the interview that Dubai police had interrogated him for 48 hours and he even had to sit through lie detector tests. The officers informed him there was a lot of pressure on them from the Indian media. The reports proved his wife’s death was because of drowning but he had to endure a long investigation procedure and the Indian media kept spreading multiple conspiracy theories about Sridevi’s death.

Shocking truths about Sridevi’s diet

The film producer revealed that his actress wife used to go through stringent diet plans involving ‘no salt’ and crash diets. She would even starve to keep in shape and look glamorous on screen. At one point, Sridevi stopped taking salt at all.

Boney Kapoor shared that once actor Nagarjuna had told him that because of crash diets, Sridevi had even fallen in the washroom and broken her teeth. Boney Kapoor further said he was unaware of Sri’s erratic diet plans before marriage. She had had blackouts on several occasions and the doctor informed about her low BP issue. He repented that though warned by doctors his wife never took the advice seriously until the incident happened.

Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018. The film industry as well as the entire nation was shocked by her untimely unnatural death. Sridevi was a versatile actress who worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films over a career of 50 years. She was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri and voted in a CNN-IBN poll (2013) as “India’s Greatest Actress in 100 Years”. The veteran actress was last seen on screen in the 2017 film Mom.
