Rumors have been buzzing about Dhanush teaming up with director Arun Matheshwaran to star as the renowned musician Ilaiyaraaja in a biopic. The project is being produced by Connekkt Media and PK Prime Productions and was launched in Chennai recently.

During the event, Dhanush expressed his excitement, stating, “Ilaiyaraaja’s music brings peace to people’s nights. I’ve often imagined myself portraying him in a biopic. This is a dream come true for me. I’ve always wanted to do two biopics – one on Ilaiyaraaja Sir and the other on superstar Rajinikanth. One dream is coming true now, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’ve been a fan and a devotee of Ilaiyaraaja. His music has been my inspiration for acting.”

Dhanush also shared how Ilaiyaraaja’s music has influenced his acting, saying, “His music has served as a mentor for my acting. Even before I understood acting, I would listen to his songs to understand how to emote. I believe his music will guide me in portraying him accurately on screen.”

The biopic is slated for a multilingual release across India, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Kamal Haasan suggested that it should also be made available in other regional languages to reach a wider audience.

Ilaiyaraaja himself will be composing the music for the biopic, adding an authentic touch to the portrayal of his life. Nirav Shah is in charge of cinematography, while Muthuraja is handling production design. Details regarding the film’s release date and other aspects are yet to be revealed.

In addition to his role in “Ilaiyaraaja”, Dhanush is also working on other projects like “Kubera” and “Ramayan”. He is also directing his own film titled “Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam”. With “Ilaiyaraaja”, Dhanush adds another feather to his cap as he delves into portraying the iconic musician on screen.
