The stage lights dim. A hush falls over the crowd. And then—movement. A swirl of color, a rhythmic beat, and the unmistakable energy of Bollywood fills the air. This isn’t just a dance performance—it’s a celebration of culture, identity, and joy.
From the heart of India to the stages of Boston, Ekta Dance Academy has been bringing the spirit of Indian dance to life—infusing the community with the vibrant energy of Bollywood, the grace of Kathak, and the storytelling power of both classical and contemporary forms.
“Dance is the hidden language of the soul.”
— Martha Graham
Nowhere is this truth more alive than at Ekta Dance Academy, where every footstep carries a legacy and every performance is woven with purpose. Founded by the dynamic and passionate Ekta, the academy isn’t just a place to learn choreography—it’s where young dancers find their voice, their roots, and their confidence.

Where Culture Meets Confidence
Ekta Dance Academy isn’t just about learning to dance. It’s about preserving identity, fostering expression, and keeping cultural heritage alive—one beat at a time.
Children growing up in the U.S. often face the challenge of staying connected to their roots. Through music, movement, and meaning, Ekta bridges that gap. Every class becomes a journey into India’s rich traditions—where dance is not just art, but a living, breathing story.
“I love dance that carries a message,” says Ekta. “That’s how I teach. Every step, every expression should mean something.”
And at her academy, it does.
From Studio Floor to Center Stage
In just three short years, Ekta’s students have danced their way from the studio to one of the most iconic venues in Boston: TD Garden. Performing during Boston Celtics games, her students brought Indian dance to the mainstream spotlight—colorful lehengas and Bollywood beats lighting up the arena.
It wasn’t just a performance; it was a powerful statement about representation and pride. It was a moment the dancers—and the local Indian-American community—will never forget.
A Dancer’s Calling
Ekta’s own journey in dance spans over 20 years. Trained in Kathak, Bollywood, Salsa, and Hip Hop, her style is both diverse and rooted. She has taught dancers from the age of 4 to 50, guiding each student to not only improve their technique, but also discover their inner confidence.

Those who witnessed her troupe perform at the Jay-Ho! Shaan Concert know what we’re talking about. Their high-energy performance set the tone for the night, earning praise from Shaan himself, who called it a joy to see such amazing talent emerging from Boston.
What Makes Ekta Dance Academy Unique
What sets Ekta Dance Academy apart is its performance-driven philosophy and deep cultural grounding. The academy places strong emphasis on stage experience, giving students regular opportunities to perform in front of live audiences—whether at community festivals, cultural shows, or professional venues. Unlike many dance schools that stick to a single genre, Ekta’s students are trained in a wide range of styles—from classical Kathak to contemporary Bollywood and upbeat Hip Hop—allowing them to become versatile performers. Classes are designed to be joyful, encouraging, and inclusive, welcoming dancers of all ages and levels. Ekta also offers free practice sessions to help students refine their skills without financial pressure. Most importantly, each choreography is created with intent—telling a story, expressing a message, and honoring Indian traditions through carefully chosen music, costumes, and themes. At EDA, students don’t just learn to dance—they learn to express, connect, and grow.
