Ajith Kumar’s latest movie Good Bad Ugly has been doing well at the box office, but its momentum has slightly slowed down after a recent controversy. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan and has captured the audience’s attention since its release.

Good Bad Ugly had a powerful opening when it hit theatres on April 10. The film earned a solid ₹29.25 crore on its first day. Although there was a small dip in collections on Friday, the movie recovered over the weekend and remained steady throughout the week.
By Monday, the film crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India, with a single-day earning of ₹15 crore. This brought the film’s total domestic earnings to ₹107.80 crore by Tuesday, when it collected around ₹6.50 crore.
Worldwide, the film has grossed an impressive ₹171.50 crore, making it the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2025 so far. Within Tamil Nadu alone, it has earned over ₹100 crore in gross revenue.
The Ilaiyaraaja Controversy
Despite the box office success, Good Bad Ugly is facing a legal issue. Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has sent a legal notice to the film’s producers. He claims his songs were used in the film without his permission. Ilaiyaraaja is asking for a written apology and ₹5 crore in compensation.
However, the producers of the movie, Mythri Movie Makers, say they followed all the legal steps. According to producer Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar, the team got permission from the required music labels and obtained all necessary No Objection Certificates (NOCs). “We have done things by the book,” he told Hindustan Times.
What Is the Film About?
Good Bad Ugly follows the story of a gangster named Red Dragon, also known as AK (played by Ajith Kumar). He wants to leave his criminal life behind and reunite with his wife Ramya (played by Trisha) and their son. But when his family is in danger, AK is forced to return to his dark past to protect them.
The emotional storyline, combined with action and drama, has connected well with the audience. Ajith Kumar’s performance and the strong chemistry between him and Trisha have been widely praised.
