Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are reuniting on streaming with Haiwaan, as Priyadarshan’s neo-noir crime thriller prepares for its OTT debut on November 6, 2026. Following its theatrical release earlier this year, the film is now set to reach viewers who may have missed its big-screen run.
Released in cinemas on September 11, Haiwaan brought Akshay and Saif together on screen after 18 years. Their previous film together was Tashan, which arrived in 2008. The thriller also marked the final film appearance of veteran actor Asrani, who passed away in October 2025.

What Is Haiwaan About?
Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan is the Hindi adaptation of his 2016 Malayalam film Oppam. The story follows Shyam Rane, played by Saif Ali Khan, a visually impaired martial artist who finds himself responsible for protecting a young girl from a psychopathic killer.
Akshay Kumar plays Parshuram Gokhale, a character central to the film’s crime-thriller conflict. The story combines suspense, danger and the challenges faced by a visually impaired protagonist as he attempts to protect someone vulnerable.
The Hindi version revisits the premise of Oppam, with Priyadarshan adapting his earlier work for a new cast and audience.
Haiwaan Cast: Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Others
Alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, the film features Shriya Pilgaonkar as Naina and Saiyami Kher as Inspector Varsha Joshi. Rajpal Yadav plays Chandu, while Boman Irani appears as Judge Pradhan.
The supporting cast also includes Kanchan Pagare as Sudhir, a security guard, and Yamini Joshi as Shraddha. Veteran actor Asrani makes his final film appearance in the thriller.
Why Haiwaan Is Special for Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Haiwaan was the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan after nearly two decades. The actors previously shared screen space in films including Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Yeh Dillagi and Tashan.
Their reunion under Priyadarshan’s direction brought together three familiar names from Hindi cinema. The film also gave the filmmaker an opportunity to revisit a story he had originally told in Malayalam through Oppam.
Haiwaan Reception and Box Office Performance
Despite the interest surrounding its lead cast and director, Haiwaan received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and did not perform strongly at the box office, according to the supplied report.
Its theatrical run was described as a commercial disappointment. The upcoming OTT release now offers the thriller another opportunity to find viewers beyond its cinema audience.
Who Directed and Produced Haiwaan?

The film was produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under the banners of KVN Productions and Thespian Films.
