Hrithik Roshan recently took to Instagram to share some nostalgic pictures from his days as an assistant director on the iconic 90s film Karan Arjun. This film, directed by his father Rakesh Roshan, starred Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead roles. Hrithik, who was only 17 at the time, reflected on his experience working behind the scenes on this blockbuster.
A Glimpse into the Past
In the Instagram post, Hrithik Roshan shared two old photos from the sets of Karan Arjun. One photo shows him standing alongside Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, looking like a younger version of his famous character Kabir. Hrithik humorously captioned the image, saying, “I look like a young Kabir with Karan and Arjun.” The pictures offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, providing fans with a glimpse into Hrithik’s early career in the film industry.
Hrithik Roshan Shared Memories from the Set
Hrithik shared a couple of interesting anecdotes from his time working on Karan Arjun. He recalled how, on the film’s release day, he and his father’s other assistant, Anurag, were tasked with screening the final print of the film. However, they were disappointed to see that the print appeared dark and dull. In an effort to fix this, they decided to clean the theater screen. Hrithik humorously added that when they cleaned the screen, the manager mentioned that it was the first time the screen had been washed in 25 years. This little mishap became a funny memory for Hrithik and the team.
Another memorable moment Hrithik shared was about the late-night antics of Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. He recalled how both actors, after wrapping up work for the day, decided to drive to Delhi, promising to return by morning. Hrithik, worried about the schedule and the early call time, jumped on the bonnet of their car to stop them. He said, “I had to make sure my dad doesn’t lose the day.” Hrithik’s dedication to ensuring everything went smoothly on set showed his commitment even at such a young age.
A Learning Experience
For Hrithik, working on Karan Arjun was a major learning experience. At just 17, he had the chance to observe two of Bollywood’s biggest stars, Salman and Shah Rukh, up close. Hrithik credits them with teaching him valuable lessons about acting. He mentioned that watching them perform was like attending a “practical acting school” and that it was an invaluable experience. Hrithik also shared how the lessons he learned during this time continue to shape his career today.
Karan Arjun’s Special Re-release
In celebration of Karan Arjun’s upcoming 30th anniversary in January, Rakesh Roshan re-released the film in theaters on November 22. Hrithik, who has since become one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, often assisted his father in his films, including Karan Arjun. His time spent on set with his father was crucial to his growth in the industry.
Hrithik, in a recent interview, recalled how he was involved in all story discussions for Karan Arjun, helping his father shape the script. Rakesh Roshan, in turn, praised his son, saying that Hrithik’s ability to understand and connect with stories, no matter how difficult they seemed, made him an invaluable collaborator.
