Jailer 2 OTT Release: Rajinikanth’s Film May Get 30 Extra Minutes, Deleted Scenes Featuring Mohanlal and Vijay Sethupathi Could Return

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 may have another surprise in store for fans when it arrives on OTT. The film’s digital version is reportedly being planned as an extended cut with approximately 30 minutes of additional footage, potentially bringing back scenes featuring Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi, Santhanam and Hrithik Roshan that were missing or shortened in the theatrical version.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the action entertainer has completed a successful theatrical run following its October 15, 2026 release. While audiences have been waiting for details about its digital premiere, reports about a longer version have added to the anticipation.

However, the reported extended cut has not been officially confirmed by the makers or the streaming platforms. The possibility of restored scenes should therefore be treated as a report rather than a confirmed feature of the OTT release.

Jailer 2 OTT Version May Include 30 Minutes of Extra Footage

According to reports, the digital edition of Jailer 2 could run approximately 30 minutes longer than the theatrical version. The additional footage may include sequences involving several prominent actors who had limited screen time or whose scenes were reportedly removed before the film reached cinemas.

The names mentioned in these reports include Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi, Hrithik Roshan and Santhanam. If the extended version materialises, viewers could get a longer look at some of the film’s supporting characters and special appearances.

The possibility is particularly interesting for fans who expected more screen time from the film’s high-profile cast. However, there is no confirmed information about the exact scenes, their duration or whether all the reported actors will feature in the additional footage.

Why Did Jailer 2’s Deleted Scenes Become a Talking Point?

The screen time given to several actors became a subject of discussion after Jailer 2 arrived in theatres. Santhanam, for instance, appeared in a video shared after the film’s shooting was completed, raising expectations about his presence in the final version. Reports subsequently suggested that his scenes did not make it into the theatrical cut.

Mohanlal’s appearance also attracted attention, particularly among his fans in Kerala, with reports suggesting that some of his portions had been removed or shortened. Vijay Sethupathi’s screen time reportedly underwent similar changes.

These reports fuelled discussions about the theatrical edit and whether audiences would eventually get to see the missing material. The possibility of an extended OTT version has now brought those conversations back into focus.

If the additional footage is restored, it could offer a different viewing experience from the theatrical release. For now, however, fans will have to wait for an official confirmation from the production team.

Jailer 2 OTT Release Date: When and Where to Watch Rajinikanth’s Film?

Jailer 2 is reportedly heading to digital platforms after November 10, 2026. Some reports have floated November 12 as a possible streaming date, with Amazon Prime Video mentioned as the expected platform.

Sun NXT has also been linked to the film’s digital release in reports. However, neither the exact premiere date nor the platform arrangement has been officially confirmed. Viewers should wait for an announcement from the makers or streaming services before treating any date or platform as final.

The reported November 12 date should therefore be considered tentative. It is also not yet clear whether the film will be available in its theatrical cut, an extended edition or both.

Jailer 2 Cast: Rajinikanth Leads an Ensemble Featuring Mohanlal and Hrithik Roshan

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in the sequel, which brings together an ensemble cast from Tamil and other Indian film industries.

The cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Mirnaa, Yogi Babu, SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Mithun Chakraborty. The film also features special appearances by Mohanlal, Vijay Sethupathi, Hrithik Roshan, Shivarajkumar and Jackie Shroff.

Nelson Dilipkumar has directed the sequel, with Sun Pictures backing the project. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.

The story takes place three months after the events of the first Jailer. Following Varman’s death, a gang begins searching for the person responsible and attempts to recover three containers of idols hidden by Muthuvel Pandian. The search leads to a larger confrontation involving Muthuvel and the powerful Kalpak family.

With the theatrical release behind it, attention has now shifted to the film’s digital debut. If the reports about an additional 30 minutes prove accurate, the OTT edition could give fans a chance to see more of the characters whose appearances became a talking point after the theatrical release.

Until the makers confirm the details, the extended cut and the reported streaming date remain unverified.
