After Jawan entered the 800 crore club globally, the filmmaker Atlee said he wanted to push his film to the Oscars. In a recent interview with ETimes, the acclaimed Tamil director said, “Of course, even Jawan should go, if everything falls in place. I think every effort, everybody, every director, every technician who is working in cinema, their eyes are on the Golden Globes, Oscars, National Award, every award. So, definitely, yeah, I would love to take Jawan to the Oscars. Let’s see.”

He mentioned calling Shah Rukh Khan and asking him if they should pitch the film for the prestigious award. Earlier Atlee had mentioned how SRK was involved in the film and the two of them would have “creative discussions”.

Jawan took four years to finish off. The film opened to a massive success with fans celebrating it like a festival while critics giving out positive reviews. The filmmaker agreed the audience’s love is what keeps him moving ahead. He is one of those rare Indian filmmakers to have only superhits in his career, Jawan being the biggest crowd-puller.

Directed by Tamil filmmaker Atlee, Jawan stars Shah Rukh Khan in a double role. Nayanthara plays SRK’s love interest and Vijay Sethupathi is the main antagonist in the film. The movie also features Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Quereshi, Ridhi Dogra, and Sunil Grover. Deepika Padukone has also been seen in an extended cameo.

The movie is gaining popularity because apart from being a high-octane action thriller, the movie also called attention to socio-political issues and problems faced by the common Indians.

Incidentally, Shah Rukh Khan is the only actor with two 10 billion films in the same year, the other film being Pathan.

A self-declared Shah Rukh fan, Atlee is immensely satisfied with King Khan’s performance in the film and is all praise for him. “Everyone is making a pan-Indian film. In this phase, Shah Rukh sir has been a great visionary by understanding the culture of cinema and what everyone likes all over. So, now he has opened the gate that everyone from every part of the country can collaborate and make a film,” he said.

After the phenomenal success on a global scale, definitely, we can hope and pray that Jawan enters the Oscar nominations and makes India proud.
