Karan Johar has officially announced a new feature film based on the life and work of Rameshwar Nath Kao, the founder and first chief of India’s external intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW). Film Based On Nitin Gokhale’s Gentleman Spymaster

The upcoming film is based on Nitin Gokhale’s 2019 book R.N. Kao: Gentleman Spymaster. According to reports, the story will cover the period from 1955 to 1971, tracing the developments that eventually led to the creation of R&AW and its early operations.

The narrative is expected to explore Kao’s career before the formation of R&AW, the establishment of the agency in 1968 and the events surrounding its first major mission during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.

Karan Johar’s R.N. Kao film is scheduled to release theatrically on August 11, 2028.

That project was also expected to chronicle Kao’s career and his work as the first chief of R&AW. However, there have been no major recent updates on the series.
