Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming film, Jaane Jaan will release on Netflix this month. Kareena Kapoor Khan debuts on the OTT platform with this movie.
This film is a mystery-thriller adapted from the Japanese novel, The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino. It’s been the second highest-selling book in Japan and an international bestseller immediately after it was published in 2005. It’s the third story in the Detective Galileo series and so far, is the most popular one. In the story, we find how a brilliant professor going through an existential crisis helps solve a murder case. The novel also portrays an unrequited love story in the midst of thrill and suspense.
In Jaane Jaan, the story is set in Kalimpong where a single mother is trying to cover up the murder of her estranged husband with the help of her neighbor. Kareena looked incredibly stunning at the trailer launch in Mumbai. During the press conference, the actress revealed that she is more nervous than when she made her debut in movies about 23 years ago. As with Jaane Jaan, people would be able to see her up close in their homes, not in a usual big screen theater.
The director, Sujoy Ghosh remarked the movie has a complex theme and each character has many layers to them. He feels it’s a completely different movie and the unrequited love of the character Naren for Maya as depicted in the movie is quite rare and interesting to him.

The audience is already praising Kareena’s de-glam look. Kareena commented that her fans have always been used to seeing her in glamorous roles. But in Jaane Jaan, they will see her in a totally different look. Although, she admitted looks are not important, what is important is the content of the cinema and how strong the character is structured. She appreciated the director and her co-actors in helping her to bring out Maya for the movie. Jaane Jaan is stated to be released on 21st September on Kareena’s birthday only on Netflix.
