Nayanthara is officially part of Rajinikanth’s upcoming Tamil film Dharman. The announcement from Raaj Kamal Films International reunites the stars five years after Annaatthe, while details of her character remain under wraps.
Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Dharman has added another prominent name to its cast. Nayanthara has officially joined the project, with production banner Raaj Kamal Films International announcing her entry on social media on October 25. The announcement featured the message, “THE AURA IS DOUBLE,” welcoming the actor to the film.
Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, Dharman is produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, in association with R. Mahendran of Turmeric Media. Nayanthara’s addition brings her back on screen with Rajinikanth after their last collaboration in Annaatthe, released in 2021.
The casting announcement has generated interest in the film’s ensemble, although the makers have not disclosed Nayanthara’s character or revealed further details about the storyline. Her role in the action entertainer is expected to become clearer through future promotional updates.
Nayanthara and Rajinikanth Reunite After Annaatthe
The reunion brings together two familiar faces in Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth and Nayanthara have previously appeared together in films including Chandramukhi, Kuselan, Darbar and Annaatthe. Nayanthara also made a cameo appearance in the song “Balleilakka” from Sivaji.
Their latest collaboration comes with Nayanthara joining a film led by Rajinikanth and backed by Kamal Haasan’s production company. The pairing has drawn attention because the actors have a history of sharing screen space, while Dharman brings them together in a new project directed by Ashwath Marimuthu.
The makers have kept the details of Nayanthara’s role confidential. It has not yet been confirmed whether she will play the female lead or a character with a different narrative function. Until the team reveals more, speculation about her part should be treated cautiously.
What Is Dharman About?
The makers have not released a detailed official synopsis for Dharman. The film is directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, known for projects including Oh My Kadavule and Dragon, and is being mounted as a commercial Tamil entertainer featuring Rajinikanth.
The project has already progressed through multiple filming schedules. In September, Ashwath Marimuthu announced that the third schedule had been completed, sharing the update with the message, “3rd schedule Wrapped ! #Dharman.”
While the central plot remains undisclosed, the film’s cast and technical team have helped build anticipation. The production has not yet provided a complete character breakdown, and the makers are expected to share additional details as the promotional campaign develops.
Dharman Cast and Crew: Who Is Part of the Film?
Alongside Rajinikanth and Nayanthara, Dharman features Simran, Raashii Khanna and Yogi Babu in key roles. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who has collaborated with Rajinikanth on several projects.
The production is backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Turmeric Media, with Kamal Haasan and R. Mahendran associated with the project. Cinematography is handled by Niketh Bommi, while Pradeep E Ragav is part of the editing team. Action choreography is being handled by Anbariv.
The combination of Rajinikanth’s screen presence, Nayanthara’s addition and Anirudh’s music has made Dharman one of the Tamil films audiences are following closely. However, the makers have not confirmed every aspect of the film’s release plans or disclosed a complete account of its plot.
When Will Dharman Release?
An official theatrical release date for Dharman has not been announced. Recent reports have placed the film’s expected release in 2027, but audiences should wait for confirmation from the production team before treating a particular date or festival window as final.
For now, Nayanthara’s casting is the latest confirmed development. With filming already underway and several schedules reportedly completed, the next updates may offer more information about her character, the story and the film’s release plans.
Her reunion with Rajinikanth gives Dharman another major talking point ahead of its eventual theatrical arrival. Until the makers reveal more, the focus remains on the confirmed cast addition and the progress of the production.
