The wait is finally over! The trailer of Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders has dropped, marking the highly anticipated return of Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the brooding and unshakeable Inspector Jatil Yadav. A follow-up to the acclaimed 2020 crime thriller Raat Akeli Hai, this new chapter promises a narrative that is darker, more layered, and emotionally far more complex. The film is all set to release on December 19 on Netflix.
The ensemble cast deepens the intrigue, with powerhouse performers Radhika Apte, Chitrangda Singh, Deepti Naval, Rajat Kapoor, Revathy, Ila Arun, Sanjay Kapoor, and Akhilendra Mishra in pivotal roles.
A Murder Mystery Set in the Heart of Kanpur
The trailer opens with Nawazuddin arriving at a chilling crime scene. Members of the wealthy and influential Bansal family have been found brutally murdered inside their mansion, shaking the city’s power corridors. As Jatil Yadav takes charge of the case, he begins interrogating those closest to the family—each holding secrets more unsettling than the last.
Chitrangda Singh and Sanjay Kapoor emerge as early suspects, as the investigation hints at their possible links to the murders. With every clue Jatil uncovers, he dives deeper into a world ruled by money, influence, superstition, and long-buried truths.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Returning as Jatil Yadav
Reflecting on stepping back into the character, Nawazuddin shared:
“Returning as Jatil Yadav feels like revisiting a part of myself that never left. This film takes him to places he’s never been, emotionally and morally. To see it premiere at IFFI before reaching audiences worldwide on Netflix is truly special.”
He added that the film explores a more personal, introspective, and intense journey, pushing the limits of the character while bringing viewers into a world where mysticism and power distort reality.
Director Honey Trehan on Building a Darker, Bigger World
Director Honey Trehan also spoke about expanding the universe created in the first film:
“With Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders, we’ve gone deeper into the world we built earlier. This story examines the price of truth and the corruption of conscience, with stakes higher than ever as Jatil now has to unravel a mass murder. Working with Netflix again helped us tell this story with honesty, scale, and emotional grit.”
A Stellar Cast Driving the Suspense
The film features an impressive lineup of actors—Radhika Apte, Deepti Naval, Rajat Kapoor, Revathy, Ila Arun, Sanjay Kapoor, and Akhilendra Mishra—each playing characters who add new dimensions to the central mystery. Their presence promises a gripping interplay of motives and emotions, making the puzzle even more compelling.
