You know her voice from  “Saturday Saturday,” “Aanan Faanan,” “Khuda-ya-khair,” “Marjani,” and “Iski Uski.” The voice behind these foot tapping numbers is none other than Akriti Kakar, who has set the nation afire with her melodious and groovy voice. Today, let’s explore the life and journey behind the voice. However, unlike the youth of today who have reality TV shows, exposure, and the social media boom, her victory did not pave the way for a career in Bollywood

Like all dreamers, Akriti moved to Mumbai in the 2000s at the age of 18 to pursue her career. Well, the city of dreams has its own challenges for everyone, especially for those who want to live out their dreams. Despite facing early hurdles, she never gave up on becoming the person she is today. Being a contestant in singing reality shows to judging them, she has proved that hard work pays off eventually. Fortunately, thanks to her supportive parents, Akriti was able to persist and landed her debut song with Vishal-Shekhar for Dus before working with Himesh Reshammiya, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam da, and other notable musicians.

There is no doubt that Akriti’s family was her strongest support when she moved to Mumbai from Delhi. Her father had always been confident in his daughter’s skills and abilities and despite the lack of promotional opportunities of today, he gave up his business to assist his daughter Akriti’s aspirations. At one point, he and Akriti would sit together combing through music directories to  make a list of all the people she wanted to call.

To her credit, Akriti refers to this time period as a journey rather than a struggle. Although Akriti admits that at first things were difficult, she never uses the word “struggle.” Today, thanks to her grit, Akriti has made a name for herself in the music industry as one of the successful singers. Apart from Zee Bangla’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Li’l Champs, she has also judged “Indian Pro Music League” in addition to playback singing. If everything were roses and sunshine, life would get very monotonous. Consequently, every morning in all creative fields is a fresh trip and a new page.

Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show applauds Akriti Kakar’s tenacity and her remarkable journey, which serves as an example to many people throughout the world.
