Ajay Devgn is back on the big screen with his latest crime thriller, Raid 2. Released on May 1, the film has had a mixed journey at the box office so far but is now showing signs of picking up.

A Strong Start Followed by Ups and Downs

Raid 2 opened to mixed reviews from both critics and the audience. Still, Ajay Devgn’s star power helped the film earn a strong Rs 19.25 crore on its first day. However, the second day saw a drop in collections, with the film earning Rs 12 crore on Friday.

But things started looking up again on Saturday. The movie gained momentum and earned Rs 18 crore on Day 3. As of now, the total collection in India stands at Rs 49.25 crore.

Getting Close to Rs 50 Crore

Trade reports suggest that Raid 2 is just a few steps away from crossing the Rs 50 crore mark in India. Globally, the film earned Rs 40.5 crore in just the first two days. These numbers show that while the film isn’t a blockbuster yet, it’s doing fairly well compared to Ajay Devgn’s last release, Azaad, which didn’t perform as expected.

Losing Shows, But Holding Steady

Even though the film is showing steady box office numbers, it has started losing a significant number of shows in theatres. On Saturday alone, over 350 shows were cancelled. The total number of screenings dropped from 4,711 on Friday to 4,504 on Saturday.

Despite the reduced number of shows, Raid 2 managed a decent overall occupancy rate of 30.51% on Saturday. This means nearly one-third of seats were filled during showtimes.

Cities Where the Film Performed Well

Some cities showed stronger interest in the film:

  • Chennai had the highest audience turnout with 56% occupancy across 54 shows.
  • Bengaluru followed with 43.50% across 217 shows.
  • Pune recorded 37.75% over 355 shows.
  • Delhi-NCR had 33.75% occupancy across 1,061 shows.
  • Mumbai saw 31.50% attendance in 778 shows.

These numbers suggest that the film is performing better in urban centers.

About the Film

Raid 2 is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, known for his sharp storytelling. The film features a talented cast including Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor, and Saurabh Shukla. It is produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series.

The movie continues the story of a determined officer fighting against corruption, much like the original Raid released in 2018.

What’s Next for Raid 2?

With positive word-of-mouth slowly building up and a strong weekend push, all eyes are now on Raid 2 to see if it can keep up the pace in the coming week. If the trend continues, crossing the Rs 50 crore mark is just the beginning.
