Ranbir Kapoor, who is juggling two of Bollywood’s most anticipated films—Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War—may be shifting his schedule in a way that impacts the release of Ramayana: Part 2.

According to a new report by Deccan Chronicle, the actor originally intended to complete both installments of Ramayana before fully committing to Bhansali’s upcoming epic. However, delays in the ongoing Ramayana shoot appear to have altered his plan.

Ranbir Kapoor Reportedly Allocates New Dates to Bhansali

The report claims that Ranbir Kapoor has now handed over the dates initially reserved for Ramayana: Part 2 to Sanjay Leela Bhansali so that Love & War can proceed without interruptions.

A source quoted in the report said:
“Ranbir had planned to complete the two parts of Ramayana, then finish Bhansali’s Love & War. But the film is showing no sign of getting done. Therefore, he has no choice but to give Bhansali all the dates originally meant for Ramayana Part 2. This means the second part may not reach theatres as planned at the end of 2026.”

If true, this development could push the release of Ramayana: Part 2, earlier slated for Diwali 2027, to a later date.

Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the epic features a star-studded cast:

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
  • Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Yash as Ravana
  • Sunny Deol as Hanuman

  • Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari
  • Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha

Veteran actors such as Arun Govil, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Sheeba Chaddha, and Indira Krishnan also play key roles.

Reports suggest that the entire edit of Ramayana: Part 1 is already ready, and the film is still scheduled to release on Diwali 2026.

What We Know About Love & War

Bhansali’s Love & War is among the most awaited films of 2026, featuring a powerful trio:

  • Ranbir Kapoor
  • Alia Bhatt
  • Vicky Kaushal

Speaking at an event earlier this year, Ranbir expressed admiration for Bhansali and his filmmaking style:

“Love & War is every actor’s dream. Working with Alia, Vicky, and being directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali again after 17 years is incredible. He works harder than anyone I know and understands emotions, music, and Indian culture like no one else. His sets are tiring and demanding but deeply fulfilling for any artist.”

Bhansali’s film is expected to go on floors soon, which explains the urgency behind Ranbir’s reallocated
