The excitement surrounding Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana continues to reach new heights, and now Ranbir Kapoor has shared some major details that are sure to excite fans even more.

The actor, who essays Lord Rama in the ambitious mythological epic, revealed that the story of Ramayana is so vast that it could easily have been told across 10 films. He also confirmed that Sunny Deol’s Hanuman will have a significantly larger role in the second instalment, hinting at an even grander cinematic experience.

‘Ramayana Could Easily Be A 10-Part Film’

Speaking to The Direct, Ranbir Kapoor admitted that condensing one of the world’s greatest epics into just two films was an enormous creative challenge.

According to the actor, the Ramayana’s narrative is so expansive that it deserves a much longer cinematic treatment.

“To be honest, to tell Ramayana, you probably need a 10-part movie, but the kind of conciseness in two parts was very hard.”

Ranbir praised director Nitesh Tiwari and the writing team for successfully adapting the epic into a two-part saga while retaining its emotional depth and timeless message.

Ranbir Kapoor Explains Why Ramayana Doesn’t Need Modernisation

The actor also dismissed the idea that Ramayana needed to be heavily reimagined for today’s audiences.

He said the story has survived for thousands of years because its themes remain universally relevant.

According to Ranbir, Lord Rama continues to inspire millions across generations, while the epic teaches values such as courage, compassion, forgiveness, righteousness and the triumph of good over evil.

“I don’t think a story like Ramayana needs that. The text has stayed for over 4,000 years. It talks about courage, good over evil, forgiveness, compassion and ego. It’s a life lesson.”

Part 2 Already 50% Complete

In one of the biggest revelations, Ranbir confirmed that Ramayana: Part Two is already halfway through production.

Since both films tell one continuous story, the makers began filming the sequel alongside the first instalment.

“We’re already 50% down shooting Part Two even before the first part is released because it’s a continuing story.”

The update indicates that the production is moving at an impressive pace ahead of the sequel’s scheduled release in 2027.

Sunny Deol’s Hanuman To Play A Bigger Role In Part 2

Ranbir also shared an exciting teaser about what audiences can expect in the sequel.

According to him, Sunny Deol’s portrayal of Lord Hanuman will become much more prominent in Ramayana: Part Two.

While the first film primarily focuses on the events leading to Sita’s abduction and Rama’s journey, the sequel is expected to showcase Hanuman’s heroic missions, his devotion to Lord Rama, and the epic battle against Ravana in greater detail.

Ranbir further promised that the second instalment will be “even larger” and “more entertaining” than the first.
