Sara Gurpal has spoken out against online harassment after her eviction from Rise And Fall 2. The Punjabi actress revealed that she and her family had received rape and death threats, alongside vulgar comments about her body. She has condemned the abuse and warned that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.
Sara Gurpal Calls Out Online Abuse After Rise And Fall 2 Eviction
Following her exit from the Virender Sehwag-hosted reality show, Sara shared a lengthy note on her Instagram Stories addressing the behaviour she encountered on social media. She described the experience after leaving the show as disturbing and criticised people who targeted her and her family over her opinions and conduct inside the competition.
In her statement, Sara made it clear that viewers are entitled to disagree with her views on the show. However, she said that disagreement cannot justify threats, personal abuse or comments targeting someone’s body.
“You can agree or disagree with my opinions, but sending death and rape threats to me and my family and making vulgar comments about my body is absolutely shameful. Har kisi ki apni opinion ho sakti hai (Everyone can have an opinion), but that doesn’t give you the right to threaten or abuse anyone,” she wrote.
The actress also tagged Cyber Crime Cell India in her Instagram Story, drawing attention to the threats and abusive messages. She ended her statement with a warning to those responsible, saying they must be held accountable for their behaviour.
“Such spineless trolls must be held accountable, and strict legal action will be taken against them. Shame on you,” Sara added.
Her statement highlights the distinction between criticism of a reality-show contestant and targeted online harassment. While audiences can question a participant’s opinions or actions, threats of sexual violence and death are not legitimate forms of criticism.
Sara Gurpal And Priyanka Chahar Choudhary Had A Heated Argument On The Show
Sara’s time on Rise And Fall 2 also included disagreements with fellow contestant Priyanka Chahar Choudhary. One of their arguments reportedly escalated after Priyanka criticised Sara’s voice, saying, “Mere kaan phat jayenge.”
Sara considered the remark disrespectful towards her art and reacted angrily. The disagreement turned into a heated exchange, during which Sara threatened to hit Priyanka.
The on-show argument and the online threats are separate matters. Sara’s statement about harassment does not establish any connection between Priyanka and the people who allegedly sent the abusive messages.
