Actor Shoaib Ibrahim recently spoke about the backlash he and his wife Dipika Kakar received after posting a vlog during the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Shoaib cleared the air, explaining that he never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.
What Happened?
Shoaib Ibrahim and Dipika Kakar were traveling from Srinagar to Delhi on April 22 when the terror attack took place. While they were in the air, they had no idea about the horrifying incident that was unfolding in Pahalgam. It was only after landing that they switched their phones on and saw several worried messages asking if they were safe.
In his latest vlog, Shoaib explained that at that time, the only news available was about a few injuries. He felt it was important to quickly inform their fans and well-wishers that they were safe. In that same message, he briefly mentioned that they would be posting a vlog — but he made it clear he had no intention of promoting it during such a sensitive time.
“I Had No Full Information Then”
Shoaib shared that he had posted a story saying they were safe and would soon update everyone. However, after this, some people on social media, along with a few media platforms and YouTubers, misunderstood his post. Shoaib said, “I didn’t have complete information at that time. As more videos and news started coming out about the attack, even I felt very bad.”
He added that if he had known the full details of the tragic event earlier, he would have been more careful about what he shared online.
Shoaib Ibrahim Facing Hate and Abusive Messages
After the story went viral, Shoaib and Dipika received a lot of hateful and abusive messages. Many people used harsh words against them and their families. Shoaib questioned why only he and Dipika were being targeted when so many other vloggers had also posted content around the same time.
He said, “Why only us? Why target just Dipika and me? Are we special to you all? Every vlogger had uploaded videos.” Shoaib seemed clearly hurt by the personal attacks they had to endure during such a difficult time.
