Music lovers in India are having a great time right now, enjoying a mix of exciting film collaborations and unique indie music projects. One such project that has caught the attention of fans is “Jaan Le Gayi,” a song by two of the biggest names in the music industry, Sonu Nigam and Vishal Dadlani. After years of working together on numerous Bollywood tracks, the duo has come together for their first non-film single, and it’s quickly gaining popularity. The song is part of the album Bhoomi 2024, created by the talented composer duo Salim-Sulaiman, and has already earned nearly 2 million views on YouTube.
Sonu Nigam and Vishal Dadlani ‘s Special Collaboration
For Sonu Nigam, working on this song was a real treat. He shares, “’Jaan Le Gayi’ was the first track we recorded for Bhoomi, but it was so well-received that it became the final song of the album. I’m someone who loves music deeply and is very sensitive to voices. Vishal’s voice really touches me. Even though he comes from a rock background, his ability to connect with Indian melodies is rare and beautiful. I was so happy that we could collaborate on our first non-film song together. Vishal has such a free-spirited, ‘malang’ vibe, and I really love it.”

Vishal Dadlani’s Excitement and Challenge
For Vishal Dadlani, joining this project was a no-brainer from the start. He recalls, “I was in France, paragliding when Salim (Merchant) called me and said that he wanted me to sing a song with Sonu Nigam. I was shocked because singing with Sonu was something I had never done before, and I knew it would be a huge challenge. I don’t really think of myself as a professional singer, although Sonu and Salim always encourage me with my vocal skills.”
Fun and Energy on Set
Dadlani goes on to talk about the fun they had during the music video shoot. “The video was shot in a concert-like setting, and both Sonu and I are known for our high energy on stage. We even danced in the video, which was so much fun. Projects like these let you reinvent yourself, especially when you’re working with people like Salim and Sulaiman. The song also had me singing some sargams (Indian musical notes) that I’m not very familiar with, but Salim and Sulaiman really encouraged me to give it a try. It was an amazing experience, and I’d love to work with Sonu again in the future.”
With the overwhelming success of Jaan Le Gayi, Sonu Nigam and Vishal Dadlani have proven that their musical bond is strong and that they are just as capable of creating magic in the indie music scene as they are in Bollywood. As they continue to explore new creative avenues, fans can look forward to more collaborations from these two musical giants.
