In yet another celebration of Sonu Sood’s contributions to the people of India, Sonu Sood was awarded ‘The Nation’s Pride’ at the Society Achievers Awards held at Taj Santacruz in Mumbai. As someone who has been an inspirational figure to many of us at Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show, we are indeed gratified that he is being applauded for his evolution from an actor and producer to a philanthropist.
The award function was presided by the CM of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde at a glittering ceremony which also saw many of his colleagues from the film industry cheering him on- from Hema Malini, Farah Khan, Rohit Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Madhur Bhandarkar, Zareen Khan, etc. The stage was also shared by the Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis. Another notable awardee who shared the stage was director Rohit Shetty who was awarded the Pride of India award for his contribution towards Indian Entertainment.
Sonu Sood received the award for his numerous acts of charity, especially during and after the pandemic. He has also established the Sood Charity Foundation that undertakes various pan-India initiatives for the poor and marginalized in fields of medicine, education and employment. Despite the needless debates surrounding him, Sonu Sood continues to focus on doing his part rather than spend his energy on distractions. His autobiography ‘I am no Messiah’ is indeed a fitting reply to all those critics.
After receiving the felicitation, the actor said, “My goal has always been to transform the lives of the disadvantaged by empowering them with tools required to lead a healthy and productive life. I’m glad Sood Charity Foundations’s endeavors are getting recognised today.”
Sonu Sood was previously seen in Yash Raj Films’ historical drama Samrat Prithviraj. He will be starring next in Fateh in an action avatar. Stay tuned to Jay-Ho! The Jay Kumar Show for more updates on Sonu Sood and his ventures.
