Popular actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood is stepping into a new role—this time behind the camera. After making his directorial debut with the film Fateh earlier this year, he’s now entering the world of OTT. Together with his wife, Sonali Sood, Sonu is set to produce a political web series titled Sarpanch Sahab.
This will be their first project for the digital platform WAVES OTT, and it promises to bring a powerful story straight from the heart of rural India.
What Is Sarpanch Sahab About?
Sarpanch Sahab is a political drama set in a fictional village called Rampura. The story follows Sanju, a young college graduate who gets caught in the tricky and often dark world of village politics.
At first, Sanju is impressed by the local power and status of the corrupt village head, Mahendra Singh. But soon, things take a turn. Sanju experiences betrayal, personal loss, and disappointment. These events force him to question his beliefs and the very system he once admired.
The series explores big themes like legacy, rebellion, reform, and social justice—but through the lens of personal choices and moral struggles.
A Strong Cast and Creative Team
Sarpanch Sahab features a talented cast that includes Vineet Kumar, Sunita Rajwar, Pankaj Jha, Anuj Singh Dhaka, Yukti Kapoor, Neeraj Sood, and Vijay Pandey. The series is directed by Shahid Khan, who is also one of the producers.
The show will have seven episodes and is packed with drama, emotion, and meaningful messages.

Why Sonu and Sonali Sood Chose This Project
Sonali Sood shared that the couple has always been drawn to stories that “inspire and provoke thought.” That’s exactly what Sarpanch Sahab aims to do.
Sonu Sood added, “This story spoke to us because it’s about standing up—even when you feel small. It’s about fighting for what’s right, even when it’s tough. We’re excited for everyone to see it on Waves OTT.”
Their passion for meaningful storytelling shines through in this project, which focuses on real people, real struggles, and the fight for justice.
Director’s Vision
Director Shahid Khan explained that Sarpanch Sahab is more than just a political story. “We wanted to show the human side of politics,” he said. “Working with Sonu and Sonali has been amazing. They brought energy, vision, and a real desire to make something impactful.”
He believes the series is about more than politics—it’s about courage, conscience, and the choices that define us.
When and Where to Watch
Sarpanch Sahab is set to premiere on April 30, 2025, on WAVES OTT. If you enjoy dramas with strong characters, social issues, and emotional storytelling, this is one series to add to your watchlist.
With this new venture, Sonu and Sonali Sood continue to support stories that matter—both on screen and off. Sarpanch Sahab is all set to leave a mark with its bold storytelling and heartfelt message.
