Indian actor and social worker Sonu Sood will be honoured with the Humanitarian Award at the 72nd Miss World Festival, which will be held on May 31, 2025, in Hyderabad. This recognition is for his outstanding efforts in helping people during the COVID-19 crisis, a time when millions across India were struggling.
The Miss World Organisation, known for celebrating individuals who work to make the world a better place, will present this award to Sood during the event’s grand finale at HITEX Arena, Hyderabad. Apart from receiving the award, Sonu Sood has also been invited to serve as a judge for the finale of the pageant.
Why Sonu Sood?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during the harsh lockdown in 2020, Sonu Sood stepped forward to help thousands of people who were stranded, jobless, or struggling to survive. He became a ray of hope for countless migrant workers, students, and underprivileged families.
At a time when transportation was shut down, Sonu arranged buses, trains, and even flights to help migrant workers reach home. He also helped Indian students stuck overseas return safely. During the deadly second wave of COVID-19, his team arranged oxygen cylinders, hospital beds, and medicines for patients across India.
Sonu Sood Charity Foundation’s Continued Work
What started as emergency relief turned into something much bigger. Through his Sood Charity Foundation (SCF), Sonu Sood has continued to support people in need—offering help with education, healthcare, job training, and more.
SCF has run scholarship programs for students, helped people with expensive medical treatments, and launched skill development projects to help youth find jobs. His mission has always been to uplift and empower the most vulnerable sections of society.
