Netflix has unveiled the first look of its upcoming family drama series Unaccustomed Earth, starring Freida Pinto and Siddharth in the lead roles. Inspired by Jhumpa Lahiri’s acclaimed short story collection of the same name, the series is set to premiere on December 17, 2026.

Freida Pinto takes on the role of Parul Chaudhury, a wife and mother whose life changes dramatically after she is diagnosed with cancer.
Parul has spent much of her life making personal sacrifices, including giving up her college sweetheart in order to honour her father’s wishes. Her diagnosis forces her to reassess some of the choices she has made and reconsider the possibilities she once left behind.
She eventually moves with her family from India to Cambridge, Massachusetts, a place where she had previously experienced a strong sense of belonging. The move becomes an important turning point in her life as she begins confronting her past, relationships and aspirations.
Her choices are also expected to affect the people around her and the wider immigrant community.
Siddharth As Amit
Siddharth plays Amit in the series. The actor will share screen space with Freida Pinto in the drama, which focuses heavily on family relationships and the emotional conflicts faced by characters living between cultures.
