Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon are back together, but not for Bhediya 2. The actors have lent their voices to the Hindi version of Hollywood horror film Obsession, which will premiere on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub on October 30, 2026, at 7 pm.
Their reunion sparked speculation among fans who expected an announcement about the sequel to their 2022 horror comedy Bhediya. Instead, the duo has joined the Hindi voice cast of a film that turns a wish for love into a disturbing horror story.
Key Points
- Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon have dubbed the lead characters in Obsession’s Hindi version.
- Kriti voices Nikki, originally played by Inde Navarrette.
- Varun voices Bear, originally played by Michael Johnston.
- The film streams in Hindi and English on October 30, 2026, at 7 pm.
- Their reunion is for Obsession, not an announced Bhediya 2 project.
Why Fans Expected a Bhediya 2 Announcement
Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon previously shared the screen in Bhediya, the 2022 horror comedy directed by Amar Kaushik. Their latest promotional appearance together led fans to speculate that the actors might be preparing to announce another collaboration.
However, the announcement revealed a different project. According to NDTV’s report, the actors have joined forces for the Hindi-dubbed version of Obsession.
The project brings them together behind the microphone rather than in a new on-screen pairing. The current announcement concerns the horror film’s Hindi version and does not confirm a Bhediya 2 release or production update.
Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon Lend Their Voices to Obsession
In the Hindi adaptation, Kriti Sanon voices Nikki, the character portrayed by Inde Navarrette in the original English version. Varun Dhawan lends his voice to Bear, originally played by Michael Johnston.
The film will be available in both Hindi and English, allowing viewers to choose between the new Hindi voice performances and the original English version. JioHotstar has announced the release through its Peacock Hub.
For Kriti, the dubbing assignment marks her first experience of lending her voice to another actor’s performance. She described the film as a gripping, quirky and twisted story, adding that exploring such an edgy character made the experience exciting and challenging.
“I had a lot of fun voicing for it and I can’t wait for the audiences to experience the film in Hindi,” Kriti said.
Her comments highlight a different kind of performance challenge from acting on screen. Voice dubbing requires performers to convey a character’s emotions and personality through dialogue while matching an existing performance.
What Is Obsession About?
Directed by Curry Barker, Obsession follows Bear, a young man who wants his longtime crush, Nikki, to fall in love with him. He turns to a mysterious object known as the One Wish Willow, hoping it will make his wish come true.
The wish leads to unexpected and frightening consequences. Rather than delivering the romance Bear imagined, the situation takes a darker turn as Nikki’s feelings become dangerously intense.
The story combines horror with a disturbing exploration of desire, control and the consequences of trying to force another person’s emotions. Its unsettling premise forms the basis of the film’s appeal to viewers who enjoy psychological and supernatural horror.
The original film stars Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston. The Hindi version brings familiar Bollywood voices to the central characters while retaining the story and original performances in the English edition.
Why JioHotstar Is Releasing a Hindi Version
Alok Jain, Head of Hindi and English Entertainment Business across streaming, television and studios at JioStar, said the Hindi adaptation is intended to make international storytelling accessible to a wider audience.
He explained that offering the film in Hindi alongside English would help language reach less of a barrier for viewers interested in global entertainment. The platform is presenting the film through its Peacock Hub.
The release also gives Dhawan and Sanon an opportunity to work together in a format different from their previous screen collaborations. Their participation may attract fans who are curious about how their voices fit the film’s two central characters.
