Panchayat has been one of the most popular series on Amazon Prime. The sitcom has seen considerable success in both its first and second seasons. The first season, which was released during lockdown, quickly became popular. Similarly, the second season was also a resounding hit.The characters became incredibly well-known in both seasons, with the second season seeing the development of UP-Pradhan ji, played by Faisal Malik, as the most endearing figure. His natural acting, the desi way of dialogue delivery, and his naïve manner of convincing, garnered a lot of attention. Talking to Jay-Ho!The Jay Kumar Show, Faisal recalled his journey while shooting the Panchayat series. Let’s know what he has to say about the series.
Speaking with Jay Kumar, host of Jay-Ho!The Jay Kumar Show, Faisal Malik says, “Panchayat web series is a fantastic show that has been written in the most simple way. And yes, the most tricky thing to sustain is simplicity. The series struck a chord in the viewers. It was also encouraging to learn that metropolitan audiences gave the play more love than rural ones. The dialogues have a wide appeal for viewers. The fact that this show is not preachy is its best feature”. He continues, “When I woke up the following morning after Panchayat’s release, I learned that it had been a major smash. I was getting lots of messages.”
What compelled Faisal to use oxygen mask?
According to Faisal, both seasons of the Panchayat television series were arduous. Actor continues, “I was really worried during the filming of Panchayat 2, the final episode. I was a little anxious while we were filming the final episode of the second season. The final episode of season 2 piqued my skepticism. It was challenging. The shoot spanned for 4 to 5 days. Since it was an emotional sequence, we had to make sure that nothing was staged. I used to sit in a room all alone after my daily 3–4 hours of makeup before stepping out to the shoot. I was working with the finest actors in the industry. Due to that scene, I was concerned for two to three months. Sleep apnea struck me. I used an oxygen mask and my medications. I used to sleep in a sitting posture.”
Real beer cans used in Panchayat 1
Faisal is now working on more projects as a result of the love and appreciation he earned in the Panchayat series as UP-Pradhan ji. He also shared an interesting tidbit about a scene in Season. He stated, “We brought real beer cans for a scene in Panchayat 1. And after taking a sip, Raghu Bhai (Raghubir Yadav) realized it tasted just like the real stuff. And we all laughed, thinking Raghu Bhai is drinking in between the scenes.” The actor also lauded Alia Bhatt during the conversation. He stated that talent and technique are two entirely distinct things. He said,”Born skill is inbuilt. I consider Alia Bhatt to be a born talent . She has never displayed poor acting on her behalf. And she may have picked up acting techniques from her father.”
