The movie film ‘Adipurush,’ directed by Om Raut, is currently facing nationwide criticism. Positioned as a mythological adaptation of the revered epic Ramayana, the movie has received negative reviews from audiences and critics alike. Criticisms primarily target the film’s dialogue writer, Manoj Muntashir, for his crass ‘Tapori’ dialogues that belittle and exploit the audience’s religious and cinematic sensibilities.

In an interview, Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota expressed his opinion about the film. He said, “Even though I haven’t watched the film, the reviews I am reading and listening are terrible. Ramanand Sagar ji, the director of the iconic TV show Ramayana (1987), gave us the richness of tradition, like desi ghee. Now, it seems people won’t settle for anything less, like rejecting substitutes such as dalda. Ramanand ji’s research and heartfelt approach made his version incomparable to any upcoming adaptation of Ramayana.”

Jalota emphasized the need for respecting sentiments while experimenting with such revered narratives. He added, “Experiments should be carried out with great caution to avoid hurting people’s sentiments.”

Ever since its release on June 16, ‘Adipurush’ has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The film has faced widespread backlash across the nation, failing to meet the expectations of moviegoers. From subpar visual effects to questionable dialogues, the movie has been heavily criticized for its lack of authenticity and accurate portrayal of the facts.

Notably, Arun Govil, who famously portrayed Lord Ram in the iconic TV show ‘Ramayan,’ even labeled ‘Adipurush’ as ‘Hollywood ki cartoon.’ The film’s authenticity and faithfulness to the original source material have been called into question.

‘Adipurush’ is a mythological action film produced by T-Series and Retrophiles, written and directed by Om Raut. Shot in Hindi and Telugu simultaneously, the star-studded cast includes Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage.
