Legendary Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese is now waiting for his upcoming release Killers of the Flower Moon. Recently, in an interview with HT the movie genius opened up about his new movie, working again with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, and what the two recent movies Barbie and Oppenheimer have done to save cinema.
According to the HT report, the film veteran said while working with Leonardo DiCaprio in The Aviator they learned about the 30-year age difference between the two. But between Leo and him he realized a similar kind of sensibility and fearlessness that made them work effortlessly together.
Scorsese admitted to not watching either of Barbie and Oppenheimer but he enjoys watching Chris Nolan’s work. Also, actress Margot Robbie started working with him from The Wolf of Wall Street. “Rodrigo Prieto (cinematographer), after finishing Killers of the Flower Moon, went on to shoot Barbie. So it’s all in the family.” Martin Scorsese said laughingly.
When asked if his films have been criticized for gratuitous violence the ace filmmaker replied, “People enjoy watching or creating violence, but not everyone does. But that’s part of the human nature. And to deny it, push it away, makes it worse.”
In a recent interview with GQ, Martin Scorsese spoke up against the dominance of comic book movie trends in Hollywood. The ace director remarked it’s necessary to ‘fight back’ against this comic book trend and franchise culture to make space for original stories. Earlier he had even likened Marvel movies to theme parks and stated those flicks are not ‘cinema’.
The 80-year-old is considered a living legend in Hollywood who has made some incredible classics like Who’s That Knocking at My Door (1967), Boxcar Bertha (1972), Mean Streets (1973), Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974), Taxi Driver (1976), New York, New York (1977), Raging Bull (1980), The King of Comedy (1982), After Hours (1985), The Color of Money (1986) to recent super hits such as The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) among several others.
The Academy Award-winning filmmaker’s upcoming epic crime drama Killers of the Flower Moon stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, and others. The movie is slated to release on October 20.
