Mrunal Thakur has addressed speculation about her possible involvement in Raaka, the upcoming sci-fi action film starring Allu Arjun and directed by Atlee, but has stopped short of confirming or denying the reports. In an interview with HT City, the actor responded to questions about the casting rumours while discussing her latest release, Pooja Meri Jaan.
When asked directly whether she was part of Raaka, Mrunal laughed and replied, “I like how you assume that I am doing Raaka.” She went on to say that she would announce her upcoming projects through her social media accounts, adding, “The announcement of upcoming films, I will make it on social networking sites soon, so that we put a full stop to all these rumours.”
Her response has left the speculation unresolved. Until an official announcement is made by the actor or the film’s makers, her involvement in Raaka remains unconfirmed.
Mrunal Thakur Says She Wants to Enjoy the Process of Acting
Beyond the casting speculation, Mrunal spoke about her approach to acting and the importance of learning from every project. She explained that she prefers to treat each experience as an opportunity to experiment rather than judge it solely by its outcome.
“I just want to enjoy the process. Because an experiment is like aim, apparatus, observation, conclusion, that’s it. I don’t want to come to a conclusion that it did not work. For me, everything is you live and you learn,” she said.
The statement reflects her willingness to approach different roles as learning experiences. Rather than treating every project as a definitive success or failure, the actor described a process centred on experimentation and personal growth.
Mrunal Thakur Says She Has Not Signed a Film in Nearly Nine Months
Mrunal also addressed questions about her next project in a separate interview with Mid-Day. Speaking about the rumours surrounding Raaka, she said she had not signed a film in almost nine months and was waiting for a role that felt meaningful to her.
“I haven’t signed any film in almost nine months. I’m waiting for a meaningful role to come my way. Whatever announcement has to happen, it will happen on my social media handle, and then I’d love to talk about it,” she said.
Her comments offer further context for her response to the Raaka speculation. Although her name has been linked to the project, she has indicated that audiences should look to her official social media accounts for confirmation of future casting announcements.
For now, Mrunal has not publicly confirmed that she has signed on for the film.
What We Know About Allu Arjun and Atlee’s Raaka
Raaka is an upcoming sci-fi action film directed by Atlee and starring Allu Arjun. The project marks the first collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker and is expected to reach theatres in 2027. Deepika Padukone is also part of the announced cast.
The film has already attracted attention for its scale and technical ambitions. In September 2026, the production secured a Guinness World Record for the most people motion-captured in real time, with 37 performers captured simultaneously. The achievement highlighted the extensive motion-capture work being undertaken for the project.
With Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone attached to the film, Raaka is among the major pan-India projects being developed for a future theatrical release. However, the full cast and additional details about the story will depend on official announcements from the production team.
Will Mrunal Thakur Join Raaka?
Mrunal’s recent remarks have neither confirmed nor ruled out her reported involvement in Raaka. Her response instead points to a clear preference for announcing upcoming projects through her own social media channels when the details are ready to be shared.
Until then, the casting reports remain speculation. Any confirmation of Mrunal’s role, character or involvement in the film will need to come from the actor or the filmmakers.
For audiences following the project, the next official casting announcement will be the clearest indication of whether Mrunal joins Allu Arjun, Deepika Padukone and Atlee’s ambitious sci-fi action film.
