India’s popular comedian and actor, Kapil Sharma’s upcoming release Zwigato made it’s presence on social media with the makers releasing a new trailer before its release. Starring Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami in the lead, the movie centers around Kapil playing a food delivery agent who takes up the job after losing his earlier job as floor incharge at a factory. The movie will debut on the big screen on March 17th and is helmed by director Nandita Das who has previously directed critically-acclaimed titles Firaaq and Manto. The director had shared the film’s release date in a post on Twitter on Friday.
Fans and audiences reacted positively to the trailer and the movie has also received positive reaction at the Toronto and Busan International Film Festivals. The trailer portrays the struggles of a food delivery agent as he delivers food to different people at varied locations, builds customer rapport for extra money and is constantly on his toes with respect to his rating. His wife, played by Shahana also starts a new job, which Kapil doesn’t like. The tension in the movie comes when Kapil’s ratings start falling without explanation and how Kapil runs pillar to post to the management whose apathy is shown.
Zwiagto marks Kapil’s first drama movie after his previous outings in comedy movies Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karu and Firangi. Talking about his latest outing, Kapil explained how he never expected Nandita to offer him a film. Though he had watched her movies and was a fan of Nandita, Kapil wasn’t sure as to why he got the part. Nandita explained that his face suited the best for the role of a common man as opposed to stars like Shah Rukh who probably wouldn’t be appropriate for the film.
Kapil also confesses how he is not unduly worried about the film, “I recently told my wife, if this film doesn’t work, I will not lose anything. But if it succeeds and is a hit then I will get a lot from it. People will say ‘Kapil ne bahut accha kaam kiya ha’ (Kapil has done good work).” Of course, comedy shows remain his bread and butter but Kapil feels safe to experiment and addon to his body of work.
