Bollywood legend Dalip Tahil is all set to take on the challenging role of Pakistani politician Zulfiqar Bhutto in the upcoming film ‘IB 71’. But, it wasn’t just a walk in the park for the seasoned actor who had to immerse himself in Bhutto’s life, mannerisms, and speech patterns for months to get his portrayal just right.
Tahil’s role has also brought attention to the cultural and historical ties that bind the Sindhi communities on both sides of the India-Pakistan border. Through his performance, the actor hopes to showcase the cultural similarities between the two nations.
Taking to Instagram,Tahil mentioned about his role of Zulfiqar Bhutto, “Playing the role of Zulfiqar Bhutto was a challenge that I couldn’t resist. I needed to bring a sense of authenticity and nuance to the character. I spent months researching Bhutto’s life, his mannerisms, and his speech patterns. I hope that my portrayal of the character does justice to his legacy and brings to the fore the cultural similarities that exist between our two countries.”
The film, directed by National Award winner Sankalp Reddy, tells the incredible true story of an Indian agent and pilot who devised a top-secret mission to neutralize a significant attack planned by Pakistan and China in 1971. With only 30 agents, 10 days, and one downed aeroplane, the mission was a success and kept secret for 50 years. ‘IB 71’ is produced by Vidyut Jammwal’s production company, Action Hero Films, in collaboration with T-Series and Reliance Entertainment.
