Actress Parineeti Chopra of Ishaqzaade fame got married yesterday to Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader, Raghav Chadha. The duo had a traditional Punjabi wedding at The Leela Palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan in the presence of family and friends.
The couple had earlier performed the Sikh congregational prayer (ardas) at a gurdwara in New Delhi. Their pre-wedding celebrations started two days ago with the mehendi, haldi, and sangeet ceremonies.
Parineeti Chopra is a recipient of several awards including a Filmfare and a National Film Award. She has given several successful films like Hassee Toh Phasee, Kill Dil, Shuddh Desi Romance, Daawat-e-Ishq, Meri Pyaaari Bindu, Golmaal Again, Kesari, The Girl on the Train, Saina among others.
The wedding ceremony started with the groom’s sehrabandi at the Taj Lake Palace. The guests arrived at The Leela Palace on a boat flaunting decorations of Mewar tradition. The wedding took place in a royal setting surrounded by the beautiful Lake Pichola. Parineeti wore an embroidered outfit by designer Manish Malhotra while Raghav donned an indo-western ethnic outfit.
The VIP guests list included Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, celebrity fashion designer Manish Malhotra, tennis star Sania Mirza, and many others. Parineeti’s cousin and actor Priyanka Chopra couldn’t attend the wedding. She was present at the couple’s engagement earlier in Delhi.
After the ceremony, Parineeti took to Instagram and posted some photos from her wedding and wrote: “From the very first chat at the breakfast table, our hearts knew. Been waiting for this day for a long time…So blessed to finally be Mr and Mrs!”
Priyanka reacted with love and teary-eyed emojis to Parineeti’s post and wrote, “My blessings always.”
Bollywood stars from Kiara Advani-Sidharth Malhotra, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, and Sonam Kapoor to Anushka Sharma had wished the duo on Instagram.
