Popular Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam has once again captured everyone’s attention—but this time, not with his soulful voice, but with a stunning new makeover. The 50-year-old singer surprised fans recently by chopping off his long curly locks and revealing a neat, short hairstyle. The internet was flooded with reactions, and fans couldn’t help but gush over his fresh and youthful appearance.
A Fresh Cut That Brought Back the 90s Charm
The new look was revealed through a fun video shared by celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim on Instagram. In the video, Sonu can be seen wearing a red and white vest while lip-syncing to his song Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar from the movie Ishq Vishk Rebound. As the video continues, Sonu appears in a stylish new haircut, sporting sunglasses and a bright smile. Fans immediately started comparing his appearance to his younger days from the 90s, calling him a “chocolate boy” and saying he looks “20 years younger.”
Social media was filled with praise and nostalgia, with many fans saying the new hairstyle reminded them of the time when Sonu was a teenage heartthrob as well as a musical icon.

Fans Can’t Stop Praising His New Avatar
The transformation has struck a chord with many of his admirers. Comments flooded in saying things like “This hairstyle has taken 20 years off him,” and “He looks like he’s back from the 90s!” His glowing skin and youthful charm only added to the buzz.
Controversy After Bengaluru Concert
While Sonu Nigam’s makeover is winning hearts, the singer recently found himself at the center of a controversy. During his concert in Bengaluru on April 22, a video clip started doing the rounds online. In it, Sonu allegedly refused to sing in Kannada and reportedly compared the situation to the Pahalgam terror attack. This led to a lot of backlash on social media.
In response, Sonu issued a public clarification and apologized for any misunderstanding. Despite his explanation, legal trouble followed.
FIR Filed Against The Singer
On May 3, an FIR (First Information Report) was filed against Sonu Nigam under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. These include Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation, Section 352(1) for intentional insult aimed at causing breach of peace, and Section 353 for inciting public mischief. The complaint was filed by Dharmaraj A, the President of the Bengaluru Urban District Unit of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, a pro-Kannada organization.
Court Relief for Now
However, on May 15, the Karnataka High Court stepped in and asked the police not to take any strict or “coercive” action against Sonu Nigam until the next court hearing. The case remains under legal review.
Sonu Nigam’s fresh haircut and youthful appearance have brought back waves of nostalgia and admiration from fans, even as the singer faces legal trouble over his comments at a recent concert. Despite the controversy, the buzz around his new look shows that Sonu still knows how to keep his fans talking.
