The 51st International Emmy Awards will be held in New York City featuring 56 nominees from 20 countries across 14 categories. Shefali Shah, Vir Das & Jim Sarbh are the Indian actors among all nominees across the world. Presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the grand gala will be held on November 20, 2023.
Ace actress Shefali Shah has secured a nomination in the ‘Best Performance by an Actress’ category for her brilliant performance in Delhi Crime Season 2, a Netflix web series. Her fellow nominees in this category are Connie Nielsen (Denmark), Billie Piper (UK), and Karla Souza (Mexico).
“OMGGGGG I still can’t believe it. Feel so so honoured to be nominated at the International Emmys alongside such esteemed artists…This is for all of us in Delhi Crime,” Shefali Shah wrote on Instagram in response to the news.
Sarbh has been nominated in the ‘Best Performance by an Actor’ Category for his role in the SonyLIV web series Rocket Boys. The other nominees in this category are Gustavo Bassani (Argentina), Martin Freeman (UK), and Jonas Karlsson (Sweden).
Sarbh Instagrammed, “Honoured to be nominated for the International Emmys amongst such talented artists. I loved playing Dr Bhabha. Rocket Boys is deeply etched in my mind and heart.”
Popular comedian and actor Vir Das has been nominated for his Netflix comedy special, Vir Das: Landing. He shares this nomination with Le Flambeau (France), El Encargado (Argentina), and Derry Girls Season 3 (a popular UK show).
Vir Das shared an emotional note on Instagram, “What!! I got nominated for an Emmy award for best comedy. My second International Emmy nomination. To everyone who worked on this show Vir Das Landing, I am SO proud of you, and so grateful to @netflix_in for letting me tell my story. Off we go! Vir Das Landing. Well…this is a weird full circle.”
Producer Ekta Kapoor is reportedly to receive the honorary International Emmy Directorate Award this year. Actor Radhika Madan is one of the jury members at the International Emmy Awards this year.
